Since around 11.2 and onwards I have been more actively contributing to the project. I am regularly in openSUSE's IRC channels where I go by the alias Ilmehtar I frequently help with support requests of all levels (from beginners to advanced) in #suse As a heavy GNOME user, I also help out in #opensuse-gnome. During each release cycle, I am normally most involved in RC testing and post release bug finding and triage. Example bugs I am most proud of my contribution to include https:/ https:/ https:/ https:/ As you can see from my bugzilla history, I was also heavily involved with the prepartion of GNOME 3 for openSUSE, testing, filing bugs, dealing with support requests in IRC and finding workarounds for issues discovered. Although primarily a geek, I've also been involved in trying to widen openSUSE's userbase. Not just installing openSUSE on family & friends machines - as I work at a College, I have distributed several hundred openSUSE PromoDVD's to staff and students. As a member of Novell's TTP user group I regularly attend conferences and have often discussed my college's use of openSUSE in production. Even though we're a commercial SUSE customer we often find ourselves slipping in openSUSE to jobs SLE cannot manage, which is a great advert for openSUSE's capability. I am now also going to be helping out manning the openSUSE booth at Brainshare in Salt Lake City this October. I originally submitted this Membership request in the dying days of users.opensuse.org. As the request appears to have gotten lost in the transition I've done my best to remember everything I put there but I'm pretty sure I've forgotten something. Hopefully this is enough :) Rich Update Wed 14 Sept 2011 - I wore a green wig at oSC Update Thurs 15 Sept 2011 - finally signed up to be an openSUSE ambassador |
